What is it?
Non-surgical fat reduction is a procedure that uses specific equipment to create a controlled injury to small volumes of fat. It is done either using Ultrasound or cold energy also known as Cryolipolysis. Both types of fat reduction are done on out- patient basis.
When should you consider having it done and are you a candidate?
Both are great questions! Do you have stubborn pockets of fat on your thighs, flanks, abdomen or back that won’t go away with diet or exercise? Are you in relatively good health/shape and want to be trimmer, you just aren’t getting there on your own? Well then, it’s time to take the next step! What are the pros/cons of non-surgical fat reduction?
Pros: No downtime, no incisions. Cons: Multiple treatments may be needed, as well as temporary redness or numbness may occur.
What are the options in our office?
Here at Scottsdale Skin Institute, we offer both methods: Cryolipolysis- A.K.A. Coolsculpting and Ultrasound A.K.A. Ultrashape. Ultrasound is focused energy that only injures the fat near the focus point. Unlike Coolsculpting there is no suction involved and your body slowly absorbs the damaged fat over time. Cold energy or Coolsculpting uses controlled frost bite in a vacuum form to freeze the fat. With Coolsculpting the frozen fat is also absorbed over time.
