View GalleryThe sun's rays make us feel healthy and glowing, and in the short term, even make us look good. But studies show that in the long run sun exposure causes the majority of wrinkles and age spots on our faces. A woman at the age 40 who has properly protected her skin from the sun actually appears ten years younger than she is.
We often associate a glowing tan with good health and even wealth, but skin color obtained from sun exposure or in a tanning booth can accelerate the aging process and increases the risk of developing skin cancer.
Too much sun exposure causes most of the skin changes that we consider a “normal” part of aging. Over time, the sun's ultraviolet light damages the skin’s collagen and elastin. As these fibers break down, the skin begins to droop, stretch, and lose its ability to bounce back into place after stretching. Additionally, the skin bruises and tears more easily making the healing process take longer than usual. While sun damage may not appear when you're young, it most definitely will manifest, as you get older.
There are several highly effective treatments for sun damage, with laser skin resurfacing and IPL being the most popular. At our state of the art medspa we offer cutting edge technology to reduce sun damage. Some of the following treatments can be used to effectively treat sun damage:
Laser skin resurfacing or photo rejuvenation is a very popular way to treat and correct sun damage. Sun spots, age spots and excess pigmentation can all be diminished with laser light therapy, creating brighter, more even-toned looking skin.
Learn moreAn IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial is a procedure whereby intense pulses of light are applied to the skin, constricting collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis. The result is faded or, in some cases, fully gone sun spots, reduced redness and even diminished wrinkles.
Learn moreChemical peels can be very effective in reducing unwanted sun damage, uneven pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. With the application of a special chemical solution, your skin will transform into a brighter, more radiant appearance.
Learn moreMicrodermabrasion is a highly effective exfoliation process used to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells. With the removal of dead skin cells, you’ll be left with more even-toned, brighter and smoother skin.
