Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Are you looking for the right treatment for acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, sun-damaged skin, stretch marks and more? Collagen induction therapy, also known as Microneedling with platelet rich plasma, might be the ideal procedure for you.

Beneficial on both the face and body, Microneedling with PRP can be administered on all skin types and colors. The aim of this procedure is to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. As one of the most effective minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedures, patients report almost no down time and inflammation of the skin is very temporary and reduces greatly within a few hours.

PRP with Microneedling

Cindy Semerdjian is our certified laser technician, laser safety officer aesthetician and skin care specialist. With more than 20 years of experience in the skin care and medical aesthetics field, Cindy has helped thousands of patients achieve their most beautiful skin. Cindy received the majority of her education in the United Kingdom, training under some of Europe’s most prominent skin care experts.

How Microneedling With PRP Works

In Microneedling a small handpiece is passed over the skin. This device contains tiny micro-needles which create tiny holes or channels on the skin. The body’s natural healing process takes over, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin fibers. This leads to the skin becoming fuller and the reduction of wrinkles, scars and lines.

Another key component in this treatment is PRP. Platelet Rich Plasma contains concentrated amounts of the body’s natural growth factors, that help in the regeneration of soft tissue. After Microneedling is performed, PRP is applied to the tiny holes created to enhance the stimulation of collagen and increase the body’s natural healing process. The PRP used for the treatment is produced from a blood sample obtained from the patient’s own blood. The drawn blood is processed in a centrifuge, where it is spun for a designated amount of time, separating the PRP out from the blood.

What can I expect During Treatment?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Semerdjian will do a full assessment of your individual case and customize the treatment plan best suited for you. Treatment sessions usually last about an hour. A topical numbing agent is used to minimize any discomfort. A regular course of treatment normally consists of 3 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart.

After the treatment session, your skin will be slightly pink and you may feel as if your skin is sunburned. It is normal for the skin to completely recover in 1-3 days. Over time, you will continue to see improvements in your skin. Most patients report notable results after 4-8 weeks.

PRP for Hair Follicle Growth

As we grow older, most of us are faced with the telltale signs of aging. Weight gain, wrinkles, and age spots, to name a few, are some of the growing concerns we all face as we age. Thinning hair and a receding hairline, in both men and women, can be a major concern to some and may affect one’s overall quality of life. At Scottsdale Skin Institute, we offer PRP for hair follicle growth, using the latest in cutting-edge technology. Our minimally-invasive hair treatments help reactivate hair growth without the need for surgery.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is plasma that contains high concentrations of platelets, which contain known growth factors, required for stimulation of growth in living cells. A small amount of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge. The PRP is separated from the red and white blood cells. Platelets, contained in PRP, promote healing and growth of new hair and tissue.

What Happens During PRP Hair Restoration?

After the PRP is prepared, the scalp is first numbed with an anesthesia block. The next step is a series of injections into the skin with highly-concentrated platelet-rich plasma. The areas of weak hair follicles are targeted with injections at approximately every half inch across the scalp. Each treatment session lasts about an hour. Painkillers may be taken if there is any pain or discomfort after the treatment. Some bruising may be common at the site of injections but usually resolves within one or two weeks.

As one of the most popular hair restoration treatments available today, PRP hair restoration has the benefit of being all-natural, minimally invasive, with little or no downtime. Additionally, as the procedure uses PRP taken from the patient’s own blood, there is no risk of allergic reaction.

Am I a Candidate for Hair Restoration with PRP?

Valid candidates for this procedure are any man or woman with thinning hair or hair loss. Best results are normally obtained through a series of treatment sessions. PRP hair restoration treatments are spaced about one month apart. It is common for a full course of treatment to be made up of 3-4 individual sessions. After this, it is recommended that you have follow-up treatments 2-4 times per year.

Most patients report seeing initial results within 2-3 months. Commonly reported are lessening of shedding, growth of hair in areas previously bare or thin, and an overall increase in hair length. Optimal results depend on following the recommended course of treatment designed for you by Dr. Semerdjian. Reversing hair loss can markedly improve not only your overall appearance, but your confidence and quality of life. At Scottsdale Skin Institute, our minimally-invasive PRP hair restoration treatments afford you the opportunity to turn back the hands of time, with minimal discomfort and little to no downtime.
