Botox has been one of the greatest advances in non-invasive and minimally invasive plastic surgery. The lines and wrinkles that are associated with the day-to-day activity of facial movement such as frowning, smiling, squinting and raising our eyebrows can be reduced and even prevented through the use of a BOTOX. BOTOX can improve or reduce lines and wrinkles of facial expression such as:
- Crow’s feet (lines on the sides of the eyes)
- Frown lines or the “elevens” (the vertical lines between the eyebrows)
- Forehead lines (the horizontal lines above the eyebrows)

Botox can also help raise the eyebrow position as well as raise the corners of the mouth. In certain cases, BOTOX can help reduce the appearance of a “gummy smile” when the upper lip is raised too high during a smile.
Finally, BOTOX is an effective treatment for both migraines as well as masseteric hypertrophy (large jaw muscles that widen the jaw appearance).
Benefits of Botox
In addition to reducing existing wrinkles, Botox is also a very effective preventative treatment for future wrinkles as the muscle movement is restricted, thus slowing down the aging process. The less movement one has in various facial areas, the less opportunity there is to create further fine lines and wrinkles.
The most common areas for Botox injections are the forehead, in between the eyebrows and around the eyes. However it is sometimes injected around the mouth to prevent further wrinkles above the lip and surrounding area.

Botox®: America's #1 choice
More that 3.5 million Americans had one or more Botox procedures in 2014 and there is no sign of a slowdown. In Scottsdale Botox is a very common procedure in plastic surgery clinics either alone or as an add-on to other injectables, such as Restylane® or Juvederm®. With millions of procedures, Botox is safe and effective for the right candidates.
Almost any adult can be assured that Botox injections are safe and will produce the expected result. There are exceptions, namely pregnant or lactating women, those with neuromuscular diseases, and those with very thick facial skin. Also, those with a condition called ptosis (drooping eyelids) should not consider having Botox. Scottsdale residents who are seeking solutions to wrinkles and lines caused by dynamic movements (frown lines, horizontal brow lines and smile lines) should consult a board certified plastic surgeon for solutions to their unique problems.
In today’s aesthetic clinics, there is a profusion of products that can add fullness to hollowed cheeks, rejuvenate aging hands, smooth wrinkles and folds and even reduce a double chin. Dr. Repta can advise those who aren’t good candidates for Botox of other procedures that can achieve their goals.
Botox is a reliable solution to frown lines and wrinkles as long as it is administered by a trained technician who understands facial musculature. Although Botox is highly popular and readily available, Dr. Repta cautions that prospective recipients trust their procedure only to a certified trained professional.
Botox Results & Recovery
At Scottsdale Skin Institute our board certified plastic surgeons have years of experience and are known for delivering BOTOX that looks natural and unrefined. With our gentle and experienced approach, our patients get the maximum benefit of BOTOX while still looking natural and refreshed.
Botox results generally last four to six months. As muscle activity gradually returns, the wrinkles and creases resurface and will need further treatment. However, with the continued use of BOTOX, the lines and wrinkles appear less and less over time as the skin above the muscle has a chance to relax and smooth out.
Although rare, a small amount of bruising is possible anytime an injection is performed. Some patients have reported a mild headache following Botox treatment, but this is rare. An even smaller percentage of patients may develop eyelid drooping. This is only temporary, however, and usually resolves within a week or two if it occurs. Drooping can appear when the Botox moves around, so it is important to refrain from rubbing or pressing the treated area for at least 12 hours after the procedure and maintaining a head-up position.
