As many of you know Coolsculpting is a very hot topic right now, due to not having to go under the knife, nor is there any downtime. So let’s dive into what it is, and how it works.
Coolscupting uses controlled cooling to gently and effectively freeze the fat cells, then over time your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells. Leaving you more sculpted! You can do areas such as the flanks (Love handles), tummy, thighs, bra line area, etc. Depending on the treatment area and size, more than one session may be needed. Coolsculpting is a 20% reduction of fat in the area that is treated.
During treatment you may experience some slight tugging, deep pulling or even pinching. Nothing unbearable just may be a tad uncomfortable as we are not used to it. After treatment tingling, numbness and swelling may occur. All should go away within a few days. If not, please contact your provider.
As we said earlier there is no down time so you may resume normal activities right after treatment. You may experience some numbness in the treatment area, but this will subside. Here at our Scottsdale Medspa we encourage all of our Coolsculpting patients to drink plenty of water, and for at least 2 days have a low carb/cal diet, so you aren’t overloading your body. Before and after pictures will be taken during treatment as well as weight and measurements, but please keep in mind your body continues to flush itself and it could take up to six months to see full results.
Coolsculpting is FDA approved, but is not considered weight loss. When someone loses weight, the fat cells become smaller, they do not disappear and then re-appear if the weight is gained back. Your fat cells simply become smaller and larger; meaning the number of cells stays the same. What Coolsculpting does is actually remove those fat cells in that area. Once they are gone, they are gone. You may become thinner but not necessarily weigh less. Although, most patients do find that Coolsculpting helps them kick off a new healthier lifestyle, so you may in fact lose weight.
